Experience with rowing on the water*

Adult Learn-to-Row (LTR)

Our Adult Learn-to-Row program is designed for brand-new rowers who want to build confidence and technique in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. This program introduces you to rowing basics, safety procedures, and proper form on the water.

Fees: Group Adult Learn-to-Row – A bundle of 4 classes for $150. Classes run about 2 hours each.

Typical Format: Two consecutive weekends (Saturday & Sunday), or another agreed-upon 4-session schedule based on interest and coach availability.

Private Coaching: 1-on-1 Learn-to-Row instruction may be available at a higher rate, determined directly by the coach.

Once you've completed Learn-to-Row, you're eligible to become an OAR member and continue rowing independently or in coached sessions.

Terms of Private Boat Storage

OAR makes space available to members in good standing for the storage of privately owned shells and oars in racks at Brookwood Point. All members must follow the Otsego Land Trust (OLT) rules for the use of Brookwood Point including the parking regulations and opening hours as posted.

Outdoor storage is available seasonally between May and November. All boats and other equipment must be removed at the close of the season, on a date designated by OAR and OLT.

Members and their guests using the facilities must follow all OAR rules and safety guidelines as well as state and local laws, including any public health order issued by any competent authority. Members are responsible for storing their boats on their assigned rack(s) according to club guidelines. All oars, covers and slings must be stored in designated locations and kept clean and orderly.

Upon submitting this form, you will be contacted by the club to confirm space availability.

Seasonal boat storage fees of $100 per boat will be collected by OAR once this form is submitted and the boat is delivered to Brookwood. This fee is in addition to the annual membership fee established by the club.

OAR has limited storage space and will prioritize boats in regular use. Members are asked to log boat usage in the log onsite. Requests for storage will be prioritized based on the date of the request, and a waiting list will be maintained in the event that space is not available.

OAR does not assume responsibility for damage, loss, or theft of members' equipment when stored at Brookwood. Members agree to indemnify and hold OAR and OLT, their officers, directors, members, employees, and/or volunteers harmless for any such damages or losses.

Boat owners assume and acknowledge sole responsibility for insuring their boat(s) against theft, damage, or liability related to the storage or use of those boat(s). OAR and/or OLT will not be responsible for property damage, injury, or other liability incurred during the use or storage of their private boats on the Brookwood Point premises, and boat owners agree to indemnify OAR and OLT for the same.

Completion of this form, provision of payment, and delivery of a boat to the OAR racks at Brookwood Point is an explicit acceptance of all terms and conditions outlined above.

Adult Learn-to-Row (LTR)

Fees: Group Adult Learn-to-Row – A bundle of 4 classes for $150. Classes run about 2 hours each.

Typical Format: Two consecutive weekends (Saturday & Sunday), or another agreed-upon 4-session schedule based on interest and coach availability.

Private Coaching: 1-on-1 Learn-to-Row instruction may be available at a higher rate, determined directly by the coach.

Once you've completed Learn-to-Row, you're eligible to become an OAR member and continue rowing independently or in coached sessions.

You now have the skills and confidence to continue rowing with Otsego Area Rowing (OAR). As a new member, here’s what comes next:

Independent Rowing: You may row on your own or with other members after completing our Captain’s Safety Questionnaire and receiving clearance.
Club Sessions: You’re welcome to join open rows, coached masters sessions, and club events. We’ll keep you updated on upcoming schedules by email.
Equipment Access: You may use club boats appropriate to your level, following safety protocols and sign-out procedures posted at Brookwood Point.
Support & Growth: If you'd like more coaching or to try new boats, reach out! We love helping new rowers continue building skills and confidence.

Terms of Private Boat Storage

Outdoor storage is available seasonally between May and November. All boats and other equipment must be removed at the close of the season, on a date designated by OAR and OLT.

Upon submitting this form, you will be contacted by the club to confirm space availability.

Completion of this form, provision of payment, and delivery of a boat to the OAR racks at Brookwood Point is an explicit acceptance of all terms and conditions outlined above.
